HD

6 trans people on a very long sofa throwing a MOVIE NIGHT in front of a huge screen.

Produced by: Ananey Paramount, Marsha College, Nissan Nativ Acting Studio & Jason Danino Holt Company.

In this 1.5 hours, 8 meters long show, a cast of two women and four men from the trans community ponder ‘what’s to watch?’. As they talk about, quote from, and audition for filmed moments they reveal and share themselves with one another. Viewing brings up memories. Moments. Emotions.

“HD” is a MOVIE NIGHT bravely exploring viewing itself - the connection to representation,  the strength of the autobiographical story, the cultural narrative, and the craft of acting. It examines the influence of certain on-screen stories on life off-screen and the concept of transition in its widest and deepest sense.

About the acting course:

In January 2022, the Israeli/International production company Ananey  Paramount turned to creator Jason Danino Holt to open an acting course designated for the trans community. The starting point was simple: Transgender roles are starting to be written in israel; therefore, Trans actors and actresses are needed to act in these roles. But there’s a glass ceiling over everything concerning professional training is yet to be broken. The year-long acting course was [done as] a cooperation between the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio and the Marsha College. The course aimed to break, normalise, question and train for the craft of performance and acting in the most professional way. The outcome of the course is the show HD [High Definition] - a piece about representation, the strength of the filmed story and the personal stories of the cast.
